Urban America Outdoors (UAO) has had outstanding years but the 2007-2008 prove to be very exceptional. UAO is one of the most diverse Outdoor TV shows in the country since its inception in 1999. UAO has won over 30 Broadcast Industry Awards since the TV show debut in the fall of 2003. The show currently airs locally in Kansas City on Time Warner Cable’s Metro Sports weekly and internationally.

Urban American Outdoors won a MIDI Award in September 2008 from the Mid America Telecommunications Association. UAO has been honored with the Gracie Allen Award, two Telly’s, and an Accolade. In September 2007 we were awarded The Best Black TV Show of the Year by the Historical Black Press Foundation based out of Washington DC.

In October 2007, Urban American Outdoors was nominated for an EMMY by the National Academy of Television Arts & Science, Mid-America Chapter. Wayne Hubbard, host of UAO, was also a presenter of the EMMY event for the evening which was held in St. Louis, Missouri.

In November 2007, UAO won the Broadcast Television Sports Award from the Kansas City Association of Black Journalist. Along with all these wonderful awards bestowed, UAO still maintain its purpose of Community involvement and mentorship with youth and is dedicated sharing the outdoors with all. Annually Urban American Outdoors sponsors the free Urban Kids Fishing Derby in the late spring. Last year these collective events were very successful with over 5000 kids with parents at the various functions. Every fall UAO sponsors and conducts free hunter education classes for those who live in the heart of the city so they can then legally hunt. UAO is available to work with organizations that are interested in the outdoors and saving our youth.

Urban American Outdoors is also actively involved in issues that pertain to all the Media platforms. We will bring the readers public information that affects families in regards to outdoor issues as well as day to day things because everything touches and overlaps.
