On June 4, Urban Kids Fishing Derby National Tour made their third stop at the Constitution Gardens Pond on the National Mall in Washington D.C. This event was created by Urban American Outdoors TV, and is aligned with Obama Administration’s “Every Kid in a Park” initiative. Around 300 local youth participated in the catch and release Urban Kids Fishing Derby.
Wayne Hubbard and Candice Price, the founders of the Urban Kids Fishing Derby, was featured on TVOne’s News One Now on Friday, June 3rd to discuss their commitment to get 1,000,000 urban youth to a park through fishing and other outdoor activities by 2020.
Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl made a special appearance during the fishing derby. Our biggest catch $100 prize winner is Lucas Robertson. His fish was 9 1/8 inches long.
